We Made It | 2011
June 17, 2011So, this is it. The end of high school. The beginning of the end. It took me about 4 years to find out who I am. To understand the type of person I was and realized the type of person I became. Really, I don't know what to write for this, because there's honestly too much to write! Well, when I first started high school in grade 9, I was anxious and I guess you can say, excited? I was overwhelmed, confused, interested and pretty happy coming into high school. Throughout the 4 years, I still was. And I bet all of you guys were too. When you think about it, high school shaped who you are. Before grade 9, we were 13 or 14 year old's who thought high school meant we're grown ups and felt pretty mature or "cool". I mean, I know I did. We went from being at the top of the chain, to the bottom. We grew up each year and made mistakes, friends, enemies and lovers. We had regrets - we probably still do. We wished, we hoped, we waited, we hated and we loved. Some people may say high school is a joke, but really, I think high school is a joke if YOU make it one. Really, high school is where we developed our social skills, where we made some of our closest and bested friends. Where we met our future husband or wife - possibly. It's a pretty big deal, regardless if you get into fights, drama, have issues or were treated badly, it was and still is a big deal. Besides, what is high school without drama, bullshit, and regrets? It is what it is. But now that it's over and our 4 years are finally up, it's time for us to take on bigger and better things. I see high school as the training wheels in our life. We learn the basics, and of course we have help and guidance from our teachers, parents and even friends. And when we're ready and able to venture off a lone, it's our decision to grow up, take action and responsibility and prove to others and ourselves that we can do it. And trust me, we can. I was talking to my Mom the other day, about how high school is only 4 years of our life and that it isn't a lot. We still have our whole life ahead of us. That's what scares me - the fact that these 4 years may seem long or short, but had the greatest influence/impact in our lives. Pretty crazy right haha? We deserve to celebrate now - for those who worked hard for it and end up successful but most of all, happy. We should take those years and learn and apply it to our future. Teachers were right - 4 years do go by quickly... but now time is up and there's a whole life waiting for us. So I guess... congratulations d'Y- Class of 2011. We made it :)
