Tumbling Down Memory Lane

August 18, 2014

Ever have those nights where you're suddenly hit with nostalgia? Memories begin to flow and you can't help but miss everything. One thought leads to another and you're on a rollercoaster of memories. You miss everything, you miss everyone. The feeling of missing something or someone is not the best feeling in the world. You desire to replay the past and ignore the present, but there's no where to go. You can think, daydream, admire photos and videos, but you're still stuck in the now. I tend to let sadness overcome my emotions, and I get stuck there. I visualize poignant memories that provided me enjoyment, happiness, laughter, and freedom. I long to re-experience those memories again and again and again. It's funny, us humans - we get sad about once being happy. It's helpful when others are simultaneously sharing your exact emotions and feelings because you understand them and they understand you. And I guess it's okay to reflect on past memories that made you smile, that made you happy. But it's better to create new memories that'll distract you from missing them.
